Custom Sauna House – When a Standard Model Isn’t Enough

All saunas don’t have to be the same

Sometimes a customer has a specific place where the sauna needs to fit. In other cases, they already have a particular idea for the windows, terrace or layout that they can’t find among standard models. And sometimes there is simply a good idea for which there isn’t a ready-made solution in a catalogue. This is where a custom sauna house comes in.

At TimbersBliss, we build not only standard models but also solutions that can be adapted to the customer’s wishes, the available space and the purpose of the project. In some cases, a small change is all that’s needed. In others, working together with the customer results in a completely new solution.

It doesn’t always have to start with a standard model

Standard sauna models have one clear advantage – they make choosing easier. You can compare the dimensions, layout, appearance and equipment and find a model that already suits you.
At the same time, a standard model doesn’t always fit perfectly.

For example, there may be a specific space in the garden where a standard-sized sauna simply won’t fit.
Or perhaps you would prefer a larger window, a longer terrace, a different door or a slightly different layout.

In that case, there is no reason to give up on a good idea simply because there isn’t an identical model in the catalogue.
A custom solution allows us to look at the project more broadly and create something that fits the customer’s space, wishes and possibilities better.

What can be customised in a sauna house?

A custom sauna doesn’t always mean designing the entire building from scratch. Often, we start with one of our existing models and make the necessary changes.

Depending on the project, we can consider things such as the overall dimensions and size of the sauna house, the layout of the rooms, the size and position of windows and doors, panoramic windows, the size and layout of the terrace, exterior finish and colour, sauna interior, sauna stove and other technical solutions, a relaxation area or additional room, as well as other customer requests.

Every project needs to be considered individually, as the technical possibilities depend on the size and structure of the building and the desired solution.
That’s why it’s a good idea to discuss your wishes with us before placing an order.

If you have specific dimensions, we can work with them

One of the most common reasons to consider a custom solution is the available space.
If you already know where you want to place the sauna house, it’s worth thinking about how much space is actually available before starting the project.

Does the sauna need to fit into a specific corner of the garden? Is there enough space in front of the building for a terrace? Are there trees, fences, buildings or other objects nearby that need to be taken into account?

These details can affect the dimensions of the building as well as the placement of windows, doors and the terrace.
If you already have specific dimensions or even a simple hand-drawn sketch, send it to us. It makes it easier to start discussing a suitable solution.

A custom solution doesn’t always mean a traditional sauna house

If you want to use your sauna in different locations, a mobile trailer sauna can also be a suitable solution.
In this case, the sauna, hot tub and other necessary elements can be combined into one mobile setup.
This is a good example of how the same principle – creating a solution around its intended use – can result in something quite different from a traditional garden sauna.

Sometimes one detail changes the whole solution

A good example is a barrel sauna that we customised at the customer’s request by adding a large panoramic window.
A panoramic window doesn’t only change the exterior appearance of the sauna. A larger glass surface makes the interior feel more spacious and allows you to enjoy the surroundings while using the sauna.
This is a good example of how a custom solution doesn’t have to mean creating an entirely new sauna. Sometimes one well-considered change can make an existing model a much better fit for you.
If you have a specific idea, it’s always worth discussing it with us. It may be possible to add it to an existing model quite easily.
If the goal is to create a comfortable place for relaxing and spending time with family or friends, other outdoor solutions can also be combined with the sauna – for example, a hot tub, grill house or relaxation area.
In that case, it makes sense to look at the entire outdoor area as a whole from the beginning.
Where will the sauna be located? Where will the hot tub go? Would a separate shelter for grilling be useful? Where will the seating area be? How will people move between the different areas?
Thinking about these things beforehand can result in a much more cohesive outdoor space.

A custom sauna doesn’t have to be complicated

The word “custom” can initially sound like a big and complicated project. In reality, it can start very simply.
“I like your Felix sauna, but I would prefer a larger window.”
“I have a specific space in my garden and the sauna can be no larger than these dimensions.”
“I would like a sauna that also has a small seating area next to the sauna room.”
That’s enough to get started.
First, we discuss what you want to achieve. Then we look at what kind of solution could work and which changes are possible.
You don’t need to have every detail figured out from the beginning.

Standard model or custom sauna?

Both options have their place.
A standard model can be a good choice if you find a sauna in our range whose size, appearance and layout already suit you.
A custom solution may be a better option if you have specific dimensions, a particular layout or a special request that isn’t available in an existing model.
A custom solution can also be a good choice if you like an existing model but would like to make a few changes to it.

What to think about before ordering a custom sauna house

You don’t need to have a complete technical plan before contacting us. However, thinking about a few questions can help point the project in the right direction from the beginning.

What will you use the sauna for?
Will it mainly be a private family sauna, a holiday home solution or part of a rental or hospitality property?

How much space do you actually have?
Measure the area where the sauna could be placed and also consider the space needed around it for movement and relaxation.

How many people will use the sauna?
This affects both the size of the sauna room and the most suitable layout.

Do you want just a sauna or also a relaxation area?
For some people, a sauna room and a small changing area are enough. Others want a larger space where they can sit and relax after the sauna.

What kind of view would you like from the sauna?
If your property has a beautiful natural view, garden or other surroundings worth enjoying, it may make sense to plan a larger window or panoramic window in that direction.

Do you want a terrace?
A terrace can be a small place to sit or a much larger part of the overall solution.

Do you have an inspiration image?
Even if you can’t describe exactly what kind of sauna you want, an inspiration image can help us understand your idea better.

The best solution comes from working together

For us, a custom sauna isn’t simply about making something different.
The important thing is to first understand what the customer actually needs and which solution would work best for their situation.
Sometimes, during the conversation, it becomes clear that the desired solution can be achieved by making a few small changes to an existing model. In other cases, it makes more sense to start with a completely new design.
If you already have a clear vision, tell us about it. If you only have a rough idea, that’s enough too.
You can send us the dimensions you have in mind, a photo of the location where the sauna will be placed, inspiration images or an existing model that you like.
From there, we can look at the options together and find the most suitable solution.

Have your own sauna idea?

Not finding exactly what you’re looking for among standard models doesn’t mean you have to give up on the idea.
Maybe an existing model only needs a few changes, or perhaps a completely new solution would work better for your project.
Send us your idea, preferred dimensions or even a few inspiration images. We’ll discuss the project with you and look at what kind of solution we can create together.
